Merlin is the hero of the second series of books written by Zelazny. He is the son of Corwin of Amber and Dara of Chaos, and as such is heir to both the throne of Amber and the throne of Chaos, although he is usually pretty far back in the running for both. This dual lineage also enabled him to master both the power of the Logrus and the Pattern, although he seems to prefer using the Logrus. He is also an accomplished Sorceror and Conjurer. Lastly, he is a fine artist and uses that talent to draw trumps, such as the self-portrait you can see the face of above (click for the full picture). Merlin is one of the few really nice people in Amber.
